$\"\"$ <\/a>I awake to a new day, and wonder which hat to wear. At 8 a.m., I don the Homemaker hat in which I make sure that the house is ready for guests. At 8:30 I change into the Advisor hat, helping someone with a writing project. Next in line is the Convener hat which allows me to gather conversations into sacred moments. And stack of hats awaits the unfolding of the day: the writer\u2019s beret for imaging, the fascinator for elegant conversation, the visor for protection; so many hats in so little time!<\/p>\n

Yet as I try to differentiate and choose, I am reminded \u00a0that the hat does not matter as much as what I choose to wear.<\/p>\n

As God\u2019s chosen ones, holy and beloved,<\/em><\/p>\n

clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

Above all, clothes yourselves in love. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Colossians 3: 12, 14<\/em><\/p>\n

So I continue my day clad in Love, compassion for those people who help me in house and garden, kindness to medical technicians and store clerks, humility as I sit down to negotiate, meekness as I try to unscramble the snafus of the hour, and patience as I welcome and celebrate exuberant grandchildren into my home. I may switch hats many time during this day, but the basic Go-To Outfit for All Occasions is Love. And I can wear it because I am loved by the Beloved who knows and calls me by name.<\/p>\n

Loving God, here I am. <\/em><\/p>\n
