What does it mean to \u201cbe filled with the Spirit\u201d?<\/p>\n

3:18 \u2014 explains \u2013> 5:18<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not get drunk with wine\u2026but be filled with the Spirit\u201d (Ephesians 5:18) does not mean we need more of the Spirit.<\/p>\n

\n

We already have Him!<\/p>\n

No, being filled with the Spirit means \u201cto know the love of Christ\u201d and to thereby be \u201cfilled up to all the fullness of God\u201d (Ephesians 3:18-19).<\/p>\n

Wine relaxes us.
\nGod\u2019s unconditional love relaxes us.<\/p>\n

Paul is simply advising us to let God\u2019s unconditional love, not wine, be our lasting source of relaxation.<\/p>\n

Note that knowing the love of God is a lifelong and eternal adventure. This is why we\u2019re literally told to \u201cbe being filled.\u201d<\/p>\n

So we have all of the Spirit that we\u2019ll ever need. And being \u201cfilled with the Spirit\u201d simply means \u201cgetting to know the love of Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
