<\/b><\/p>\n

To follow Jesus is to commit to everything and anything that goes against \u201cbeing careful\u201d.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna say this, because it won\u2019t be said to you very often\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 at times in which you feel crazy, at times in which you\u2019re called insane, at times in which you\u2019re losing friends, family, jobs, or whatever else because you\u2019re doing everything and anything that goes against being careful, I want you to\u00a0keep going.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Just as you hit that point in which you feel like you\u2019ve gone too far, and you can\u2019t go any further, and every single \u201cwise counsel\u201d in your life is telling you to \u201cbe careful\u201d I want you to\u00a0keep going.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

At no point did Jesus say things would be smooth, comfortable, or easy. In fact Jesus promised the exact opposite of that. People will try to calm you down, to temper you, domesticate you, to do everything in their power to convince you to be just like them.\u00a0They\u2019lll commend you for\u2026<\/p>\n

Doing your morning devo.<\/p>\n

Going to church on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Volunteering as a small group leader.<\/p>\n

Memorizing scripture.<\/p>\n

Which are all great, but they are far from the totality in which portrays the life of Christ.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s us doing everything and anything\u00a0but\u00a0<\/i>acting like Jesus. As soon as you implement these scriptures into your daily life, and take them seriously, I guarantee you\u00a0shit will hit the fan<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/i>It\u2019s fine to mention diversity. It\u2019s good to talk about serving the poor. It\u2019s not bad to discuss equality. In fact, it\u2019s great to acknowledge the Holy Spirit, but when we challenge the system and push for diversity, insist on serving the poor, strive after equality, and embrace the power given to us through the Holy Spirit\u2026\u00a0shit will hit the fan.\u00a0<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I think the author of 1 Peter says it a lot more gracefully\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not you that\u2019s crazy for living like Christ, it\u2019s\u00a0them\u00a0<\/i>that are crazy for rejecting the life of Christ, not by their words but by their actions (or lack thereof).<\/p>\n

People will call you angry, hateful, full of disdain, crazy, insane, and emotionally blinded. You will receive ridiculous threats and told that \u201cGod disagrees with everything you have to say or do\u201d.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m lead to say if you\u2019re not being called these things, if you\u2019re not being attacked, if people are not beginning to hate you\u2026 you\u2019re doing somethings wrong.<\/p>\n

Let me be clear though \u2013 this is not about\u00a0<\/i>chasing craziness, or chasing suffering, this is about chasing\u00a0JESUS!\u00a0<\/b>I am simply acknowledging that if you chase Jesus<\/em> and desire to know Him\u00a0fully<\/i>, it\u2019s not only<\/em><\/strong> sharing in the power of his resurrection but it is also<\/em><\/strong> sharing His sufferings and becoming like Him in His death<\/strong> (Philippians 3:9-11).<\/p>\n

So may you do everything and anything but calm down. Instead may you\u00a0keep going.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
