Our spaceship among the stars"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>Last week I pondered the geographic specificity with which ancient Irish kingship was based. \u00a0Most of us, when thinking of our \u201cplace\u201d, think in terms of the very specific, whether that be our favorite tree, back garden, neighborhood, county, province, state or country. What we rarely imagine is our place on and within the living organism of our planet, which is itself a spaceship among the stars.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_692\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-692\" style=\"width: 574px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/310\/2013\/02\/Screen-Shot-2013-02-20-at-3.57.45-PM.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-692  \" title=\"Screen Shot 2013-02-20 at 3.57.45 PM\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/310\/2013\/02\/Screen-Shot-2013-02-20-at-3.57.45-PM-1024x640.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"574\" height=\"358\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-692\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">the pentacle surrounding our planet : satellites orbiting : video capture \u201cNova, Earth From Space\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I am an initiate in the Faery\/Feri tradition of witchcraft. \u00a0This tradition works with a dedicated set of Guardians that may take on various guises within the multiple lines of the tradition. \u00a0One of the exercises students engage with is that of meeting the Guardians and developing a relationship with them. \u00a0For me, the Great Powers have always been planetary or cosmic phenomena. \u00a0A moment that significantly contributed to my current worldview occurred when working with the Guardian of the West: Water Maker. During my time exploring who this Guardian was, and what she represented, I was confronted with the destructive force of our oceans. In one meaningful encounter she referred to me, and all of us, as \u00a0\u2018The Human\u2019; \u00a0just as she did \u2018The Tiger\u2019, \u2018The Palm Tree\u2019, \u2018The Seagull\u2019. \u00a0Each species was a whole. \u00a0There was no individuality; only interconnectedness.<\/p>\n<p>I invite you to watch the following video. \u00a0It features predominantly U.S. astronauts, but is not U.S. centric. \u00a0I enjoyed watching while in a dropped-and-open state of consciousness. \u00a0In fact, the video is great prep for a light trance.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"OVERVIEW\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/55073825?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"213\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media\"><\/iframe>\n<p><em>Now, take a moment. \u00a0Still yourself, using whatever method you choose. \u00a0Drop\u2013into the bottomless space of your own Being\u2013and breathe. \u00a0Let yourself expand. \u00a0Allow your consciousness to completely fill your glorious body. \u00a0Feel the edges of your own skin from the inside. \u00a0That incredible fabric of living tissue that offers a boundary between us and everything. \u00a0Feel the porousness of this boundary. \u00a0It\u2019s paper thin. \u00a0Is it real? \u00a0Allow your consciousness to move past your flesh. \u00a0Feel how you continue, layer upon layer\u2013expanding through space: this Knowing we call Mind. \u00a0How expansive. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Is it possible for your consciousness to encompass the entire planet? Perhaps experiencing consciousness as a holism. \u00a0Are \u2018we\u2019 actually singular? Is it possible to experience ourselves as cells moving within a larger Consciousness? \u00a0And can we simultaneously experience that larger consciousness while holding the consciousness of the single cell? Can you feel the thin etheric body that surrounds our oxygen rich rock? \u00a0Push yourself up against this \u201cskin\u201d, this boundary. \u00a0Feel your back pressing against it, turn and feel your face pressing into it. \u00a0Feel how porous it is. \u00a0Then push through it, into the still quietness of space: our home\u2026.the origin of the star dust we all are.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Give yourself time here. \u00a0Listen to the song of the spheres. \u00a0 When you\u2019re ready, breathe yourself back down on each exhalation: back into the planet\u2019s atmosphere and through the layers, back to your own geographic location, returning to the comfort of your own beautiful skin. Once you are fully home, take one last inhalation and breathe out\u2013filling yourself up completely and blessing the experience.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These living systems, living Beings: the human, the planet, the ocean, the current, the wind, the monkey, the serpent, all have consciousness. \u00a0Do you falter here? \u00a0Do you wonder whether all that your eye beholds is the same as you\u2013that all of \u2018That\u2019 is conscious? \u00a0How many ways of knowing and being alive are there?
