10. How in the world are we going to make it through this phase?
I once polled some moms on my Facebook page and asked them which phase of child-rearing was the hardest, and what I found was surprising. Before they answered this question, they also had to provide some information about their current ages of their kids. You know what I found out? Each mom who answered the survey claimed that the “newest” child-rearing phase they were in was the hardest. In other words, the phase that their eldest child was going through was the hardest because it was something they had never experienced before. Isn’t that interesting? That tells me that every phase has its challenges–especially when we are experiencing it for the first time as parents.
Sweet mama, I find comfort in that, don’t you? We can do this. God truly never gives us more than we can handle with His help, and He is right with us (and our kids) through each and every phase. We will get through this, and sometime, perhaps down the road a bit, we’ll see the beauty in all of it.
So, the next time your family member asks you what you’re thinking about when you’re staring off in the distance, just smile and tell them that you love them and watch their eyes light up with gratitude.
