A portion of this article is reprinted from an earlier post. \u00a0<\/em>The\u00a0Full Moon eclipse later this month is the last\u00a0of a relatively rare event known as a \u201cTetrad,\u201d a series of four total lunar eclipses in a row. \u00a0While eclipses are not uncommon (we typically see two pairs of eclipses each year although there is often deviation from that pattern), total eclipses are less common and a series of four total lunar eclipses in a row is even more rare.<\/p>\n

The first eclipse in this series took place April 14-15 2014, the second on October 7-8 2014, the third on April 4 2015. \u00a0The final in the series of four will occur on September 27-28, 2015.<\/p>\n

In the total eclipse the Moon often seems to glow with an eerie red color, inspiring the name \u201cBlood Moon.\u201d \u00a0An ancient Biblical prophecy in the Book of Joel says that\u00a0\u201cThe sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.\u201d \u00a0Some Biblical prophecists (is that a word?) have looked at lunar tetrads and their relationship to Jewish holidays as being significant event for the Jewish people, and because this first \u201cblood moon\u201d falls on Passover, these writers propose that the tetrads of 2014-2015 will have great significance for Israel and consequently, lead to the return of Christ.<\/p>\n

However, Passover always falls on a Full Moon, and a total eclipse can only happen on a Full Moon so the correlation is not that unlikely.<\/p>\n

This article makes some interesting connections, and then disputes them:<\/p>\n

Even rarer is a phenomenon that Mark Biltz discovered. Of the 87 tetrads that have occurred since the time of Christ, only 8 have fallen on Jewish feast days. Those eight occurred in the following years: 162-163, 795-796, 842-843, 860-861, 1428-1429, 1493-1494, 1949-1950 and 1967-1968.9<\/sup><\/p>\n

For an example of what is meant by a tetrad falling on Jewish feast days, consider the tetrad of 1967-1968.10<\/sup><\/p>\n

  1. Passover, April 24, 1967 \u2014 Blood Moon<\/li>\n
  2. Feast of Tabernacles, October 18, 1967 \u2014 Blood Moon
    \n(Total Solar Eclipse, November 2, 1967)<\/li>\n
  3. Passover, April 13, 1968 \u2014 Blood Moon<\/li>\n
  4. Feast of Tabernacles, October 6, 1968 \u2014 Blood Moon<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Biltz and Hagee both make much of the fact that the last three tetrads that fell on Jewish feast days occurred at times when significant events were happening among the Jewish people:<\/p>\n

    1. 1493-1494 \u2014 This tetrad followed the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492.<\/li>\n
    2. 1949-1950 \u2014 This tetrad followed the re-establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.<\/li>\n
    3. 1967-1968 \u2014 The beginning of this tetrad occurred right before the beginning of the Six Day war in 1967.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Notice that two of these tetrads\u00a0followed<\/em>\u00a0the significant events. Only one (1967-1968) served as a partial precursor of the event. And notice that there was no significant event in Jewish history that was related to the first five tetrads that fell on Jewish feast days.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      NASA has a convenient index<\/a> showing the number of tetrads in each century for a 5000 year period. \u00a0The highest number of \u00a0tetrads in a century appears to be eight, and in the twenty-first century there will be eight tetrads. \u00a0The last time there were eight tetrads in a century was the ninth century. \u00a0A quick look at Wikipedian history<\/a> for the ninth century doesn\u2019t reveal a trend of life-changing events that are any stronger than any other century other than perhaps the disappearance of the Mayan people.<\/p>\n

      From a transformational perspective, a series of four total lunar eclipses does seem to have great significance since eclipses often force the lid off of our attempts to hide from ourselves or create false identities \u2013 there is an unmasking that can bring the darkness into the light and expose big Truths from which we had been oblivious. \u00a0Over the past seven years we have had a cataclysm of planetary movement and I don\u2019t really see that this eclipse period has been any more intense than any of the rest of this period.<\/p>\n

      From an astrological perspective, this is one more marker of planetary intensity that adds to the already powerful lineup of planets that have inspired\u00a0personal transformation and global change.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
