\"western<\/a>Our friends Steven Forrest and Jeff Jawer along with Noel Tyl have been teaching workshops in China as part of an effort to bring western astrology to that country which has its own brand of astrology that is over 5,000 years old. I discovered this from\u00a0this People\u2019s Daily article<\/a>\u00a0giving the workshops some good press. \u00a0However, it does illustrate some confusion over the type of astrology practiced by western astrologers such as Steven and Jeff and this:<\/p>\n

\u00a0PeiEn\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0full-time\u00a0astrologer\u00a0who\u00a0is\u00a0also\u00a0familiar\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0teachings\u00a0of\u00a0Forrest,\u00a0havingheard\u00a0him\u00a0lecture\u00a0when\u00a0he\u00a0came\u00a0to\u00a0China\u00a0in\u00a02010. Most\u00a0of\u00a0her\u00a0clients\u00a0come\u00a0to\u00a0her\u00a0after\u00a0finding\u00a0out\u00a0about\u00a0her\u00a0online\u00a0or\u00a0through\u00a0word-of-mouth\u00a0feedback\u00a0from\u00a0satisfied\u00a0customers.\u00a0Their\u00a0needs\u00a0include\u00a0requiring\u00a0a\u00a0reading\u00a0ofthe\u00a0future,\u00a0finding\u00a0out\u00a0more\u00a0about\u00a0themselves\u00a0or\u00a0seeking\u00a0help\u00a0to\u00a0overcome\u00a0personalanguish.\u00a0Pei\u00a0then\u00a0reads\u00a0their\u00a0future\u00a0using\u00a0an\u00a0astrolabe,\u00a0the\u00a0predecessor\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0sextant used\u00a0to\u00a0find\u00a0the\u00a0altitude\u00a0of\u00a0stars,\u00a0and\u00a0offers\u00a0her\u00a0advice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Astrolabes are amazing instruments, but I don\u2019t know of too many western astrologers that use them. The article also indicates a fair amount of suspicion. \u00a0One woman is quoted as saying \u201cWho knows where these \u2018meanings\u201d attached to stars come from? If it\u2019s not from statistics, then where does it come from?\u201d \u00a0Which will open up a whole other door of discussion, but as most of us who follow astrology know, human behavior simply cannot be broken down into statistical variants. A claim that \u201cthe astrological profession is strictly regulated\u201d in the US and Europe sent me off into a peal of laughter. \u00a0Still, over the past ten years astrologers HAVE been able to educate the Western public about what astrology is and isn\u2019t. \u00a0China is probably a bit behind the curve.
