Their sense of light and color are quite rightly celebrated.  The Museum in San Diego has on a special exhibit a variety of works from these French masters, and their imitators.  For example, here is a work by an American who studied in France during the Impressionist period\u2026.<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd45.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2014\/11\/sd45-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"sd45\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11550\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd46-e1417210045444.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd46-e1417210045444-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd46\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11551\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As for the real deal, here are familiar paintings, for example this one from Renoir of a Girl Combing her Hair\u2026.<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd50-e1417210451484.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd50-e1417210451484-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd50\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11552\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is my favorite from this particular collection, a Van Gogh entitled The Old Mill,<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd51-e1417210625181.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2014\/11\/sd51-e1417210625181-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd51\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11553\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd52-e1417210743337.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd52-e1417210743337-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd52\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11554\"><\/a><br>\nThough he was an Impressionist,  Gauguin decided to move to the south Pacific islands and his most famous paintings come from that period in his life, for example this one of a girl watched by a spirit of the dead\u2026.<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd54.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2014\/11\/sd54-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"sd54\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11555\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd55-e1417211147747.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd55-e1417211147747-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd55\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11564\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There was even such a thing as Neo-Impressionism which was supposed to be based on a more scientific approach to light and color, and used the dot technique, such as in this painting by Luce\u2026<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd63-e1417212560674.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2014\/11\/sd63-e1417212560674-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd63\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11565\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd64-e1417212698455.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2014\/11\/sd64-e1417212698455-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"sd64\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11566\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Picasso, though a Spaniard, went through many phases in his painting career, and after his Blue period he spent time in Paris with a Mm.
