It\u2019s a fun place, and in fact it\u2019s the only place you are going to find several sites of Biblical import\u2014 for example the temple of Artemis (of which only one column still remains in Ephesus), or the tomb of Mausolus (from which we get the word mausoleum).  The park has been open for some years now, but I had never heard of it until recently, hence my visit to the Turkish version of \u2018it\u2019s a small world after all\u2019.  Let\u2019s start with the Temple of Artemis\u2014<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15384\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2016\/06\/mini1.jpg\" alt=\"mini1\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-15384\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15385\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2016\/06\/mini2.jpg\" alt=\"mini2\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15385\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini3.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15386\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini3.jpg\" alt=\"mini3\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15386\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini4.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15387\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini4.jpg\" alt=\"mini4\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-15387\"><\/a>  Yep that\u2019s Artemsis herself in there in all her glory. <\/p>\n<p>Next stop, the monumental tomb of King Mausolus who was buried at Halicarnassus. This tomb was considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but alas it is no more\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini5.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15388\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2016\/06\/mini5.jpg\" alt=\"mini5\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15388\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini6.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15389\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini6.jpg\" alt=\"mini6\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15389\"><\/a>   This shot gives you an idea about the scale of the tomb compared to the Temple of Artemsis\u2026<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini7.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15390\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini7.jpg\" alt=\"mini7\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15390\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I turned to the famous Temple of Zeus at the acropolis at Pergamon, which was famously carted off log, stock, and barrel by German antiquities thieves err\u2026archaeologists and given a special museum in Berlin (n.b. it\u2019s still there today). <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini9.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15391\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.production.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2016\/06\/mini9.jpg\" alt=\"mini9\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15391\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini8.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15392\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini8.jpg\" alt=\"mini8\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15392\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is also the famous replica of the library of Celsus in ancient Ephesus\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini10.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15393\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini10.jpg\" alt=\"mini10\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15393\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is also the replica of the great Roman theater in Aspendos\u2026<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15394\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2016\/06\/mini11.jpg\" alt=\"mini11\" width=\"355\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15394\"><\/a>  As well as the gods and kings statues on Mt.
