Other than Trinity College, Dublin, Queens is probably the most famous University in either Ireland or Northern Ireland. Here are a few shots I took of it, and its statue of Galileo (whom I am sure never visited as I did). $\"q\"$ <\/a> $\"q1\"$ <\/a> $\"q3\"$ <\/a> $\"q4\"$ <\/a> $\"q5\"$ <\/a> $\"q7\"$ <\/a> $\"q8\"$ <\/a> $\"q9\"$ <\/a><\/p>\n

The students mostly seems to be out playing games, or at the pub. Maybe they were playing with these lads from northern Ireland\u2026

Wiki says\u2014\u201cThe university was chartered in 1845, and opened in 1849 as \u201cQueen\u2019s College, Belfast\u201d, but has roots going back to 1810 and the Royal Belfast Academical Institution.<\/p>\n

The university forms the focal point of the Queen\u2019s Quarter area of the city, one of Belfast\u2019s four cultural districts. It offers academic degrees at various levels and across a broad subject range, with over 300 degree programmes available. Its acting President and Vice-Chancellor is James McElnay, and its Chancellor is Thomas Moran.<\/p>\n

Queen\u2019s is a member of the Russell Group of leading research intensive universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, Universities Ireland and Universities UK.
