You lose your bearings, your compass
\nYou ask where was his compassion
\nYou rationalize some answers,
\nAnd quiet yourself\u2026after a fashion. <\/p>\n

Life, it seems, is what happens
\nWhile making other plans,
\nDeath the rudest of wake-up calls
\nCan shock like nothing else can.<\/p>\n

There are no pieces to pick up
\nNo peace about what has gone wrong
\nThere is no getting over it,
\n\u2018Get beyond it\u2019 is your song. <\/p>\n

Lewis was right when he said
\nThe depth of your grief just shows
\nHow very much you loved her
\nAs God alone truly knows<\/p>\n

Some hymns no longer ring true,
\nThat blithely say \u2018no harm will befall
\nThose who truly love the Lord
\nAnd are fully pursuing his call\u2019. <\/p>\n

Warm words turn into cold comfort
\nWhen there is truly nothing you can say
\nThat will make everything better
\nOr make the pain go away.<\/p>\n

Some people say Job was a whiner,
\nThat he never should have complained
\nBut the Psalmists beg to differ,
\nThey lament again and again. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s some solace in knowing that Jesus
\nWept at the grave of a friend,
\nHe said that mourners are blessed
\nIf not now\u2026 with comfort then. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s not time that heals all wounds,
\nIn fact, they all leave scars,
\nLike the ones in the nail-pierced hands
\nOf the Man beyond the stars. <\/p>\n

I trust that some day things will be better
\nThat someday she will arise,
\nAnd I will go and embrace her,
\nAnd see the light in her eyes.<\/p>\n

For Jesus said \u2018talitha cumi\u2019
\nAnd the dead girl was quickened to life,
\nI trust he will say that to our Christy,
\nAnd joy will replace my strife. <\/p>\n
