The Roman built road the Via Egnatia is right beside the Roman forum\u2026.<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2018\/07\/2018-05-29-11.55.36_preview.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/files\/2018\/07\/2018-05-29-11.55.36_preview-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-22156\"><\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2018\/07\/2018-05-29-11.55.12_preview1.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2018\/07\/2018-05-29-11.55.12_preview1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-22186\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By Paul\u2019s day, the city was a Roman colony city, where Roman citizens like Paul had the highest status, and the first right of protection by the Roman law of the city.
