<\/a><\/p>\nI was taking some sabbatical time in Texas at Baylor, where 2 out of every three vehicles are trucks. You\u2019ve got city slickers, politicians, mailmen, salon workers, waitresses and more, all driving trucks, and not just any sort of trucks. I mean big ole honkin\u2019 trucks. Why? This makes no sense. You\u2019ve got mothers who need vans or at least cars with decent sized back seats driving trucks. Now at first I thought\u2014 it\u2019s Texas, there\u2019s a long history of people driving ranch and farm vehicles. But then I noticed the same thing was happening in Kentucky. Now I have no issue with plumbers and carpenters and actual horse farm workers having trucks. They actually need the truck beds to haul things. But when you see a lawyer in a suit driving his kids to school, and some of them or their friends are sitting in the truck bed\u2026. and it\u2019s raining, well that\u2019s just wrong in seven languages!! And I blame the auto companies in part for all this macho stuff. Super size your truck like you do your fast food meal (and your waste line\u2014 yes I said waste line). Their ads insinuate that big trucks have something to do with being a big man or woman. Utter nonsense. You are not your truck, and it is not an extension of your personality\u2026. unless of course you are a commercial truck driver as a profession!!
