The sepia tones of autumn
\nCrept into my mind
\nOf things decaying, dying
\nOf summer left behind. <\/p>\n
They say that autumn\u2019s beautiful
\nWith red and yellow leaves
\nBut then the colors fade to brown
\nThey fall from grace, their trees.<\/p>\n
Are we more like the trees that stand
\nOr like the leaves that fall?
\nFor trees will long outlast my years
\nBut Leaves will whisper\u2014 \u2018that\u2019s all!\u2019<\/p>\n
I think I know why autumn brown
\nIs not my favorite hue
\nIt is a harbinger of my end
\nIt pleads \u2018you\u2019re overdue\u2019.<\/p>\n
But what if I\u2019m not finished
\nWhen my mortal frame is done
\nWhat if I am not a leaf
\nBut the Almighty\u2019s son<\/p>\n
What if life indeed goes on
\nWell beyond the grave,
\nWhat if this world\u2019s endings
\nDon\u2019t end His will to save?<\/p>\n
What if there is Elysium
\nAnd I am unaware?
\nCould it be true, I\u2019ll be brand new
\nAnd there\u2019s no sepia there?<\/p>\n
Faith is the assurance
\nOf things we do not see
\nA powerful conviction
\nOf what we yet may be.<\/p>\n
My life is not a season
\nIn some divine decree
\nMy God has a reason
\nWhy I\u2019ll not cease to be.<\/p>\n
So I\u2019ll not frown or worry
\nWhen autumn comes around
\nI\u2019ll not fret about the leaves
\nThat fall and then turn brown.<\/p>\n
