A Seussian Ode to Coffee<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sometimes I get asked<\/p>\n
How I wrote so many books<\/p>\n
I tell them \u2018it\u2019s the coffee\u2019<\/p>\n
And then I get strange looks.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
To write a great book<\/p>\n
You must use your ole bean<\/p>\n
I took that advice quite literally<\/p>\n
And bought a good machine.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
I follow great examples<\/p>\n
From the hoary past<\/p>\n
Coffee is apostolic<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why it\u2019s meant to last.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019m thinking ole St. Paul<\/p>\n
Drank coffee for us all,<\/p>\n
Writing letters late at night<\/p>\n
Quaffing it by candlelight.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
And Peter without a doubt<\/p>\n
Drank Peete\u2019s from a spout<\/p>\n
He liked his coffee hot<\/p>\n
But his wife surely did not.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
With these great examples<\/p>\n
I must follow right along<\/p>\n
And keep on making coffee<\/p>\n
While singing the following song\u2026<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink it when it\u2019s hot,<\/p>\n
I will drink it when it\u2019s cold,<\/p>\n
I will drink it from the pot,<\/p>\n
When it\u2019s three days old.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink it with some cream<\/p>\n
I will drink it while I dream<\/p>\n
I will drink it when it\u2019s sweet<\/p>\n
I will drink it with my meat.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink it at the dawn<\/p>\n
I will drink it on the lawn,<\/p>\n
I will drink it while I drive<\/p>\n
I will drink it while I\u2019m alive<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink a cappuccino<\/p>\n
I will drink it while in Reno<\/p>\n
I will drink it from a cup<\/p>\n
I will drink it all up.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink it in a bar<\/p>\n
I will drink it in the car,<\/p>\n
I will drink it with my friends<\/p>\n
Oh the fun it never ends.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will drink a macchiato<\/p>\n
As if I won the lotto<\/p>\n
I will drink a flat white<\/p>\n
I will drink it day and night.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I will grind my own beans<\/p>\n
And guard them from all fiends<\/p>\n
I will clean my Cuisinart<\/p>\n
But good cleaning is an art.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018If heaven has no caf\u00e9<\/p>\n
I will build one straight away,<\/p>\n
Not Starbucks or Caribou<\/p>\n
My own Java has to do.\u2019<\/p>\n
