Weary, worn, welts on hand
\nWork has whittled down the man
\nTo the bare necessities
\nOf what he is, and what he\u2019ll be
\nWas this then his destiny?<\/p>\n

Defined, refined by what we do,
\nThe toilsome tasks are never through
\nThorn and thistle, dirt and dust
\nSweeping clean, removing rust
\nAll to earn his upper crust?<\/p>\n

Sweat of brow, and carried weight
\nRose too early, slept too late
\nSlaving, striving dawn to dusk
\nTil the shell is barely husk
\nStaunch the stench with smell of musk?<\/p>\n

But work is not the curse or cure
\nBy which we\u2019re healed, or will endure
\nIt will not save us in the end,
\nIt is no foe, but rather friend
\nBut while it molds us will we mend?<\/p>\n

Task Master making all things new
\nWho makes the most of what we do,
\nLet our work an offering be
\nA timely gift from those set free
\nFrom earning our eternity.<\/p>\n

When work is mission on the move
\nBy those whose efforts serve to prove
\nThat nothing\u2019s wasted in God\u2019s hands
\nWhen we respond to his commands
\nThen we shall hear him say \u201cwell done\u201d
\nTo those who worked under the Son.<\/p>\n
