The presence of her absence<\/p>\n
Was noted by them all<\/p>\n
They waited to hear her familiar walk<\/p>\n
Or her southern drawl\u2026<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The silence wasn\u2019t deafening<\/p>\n
In fact, it spoke a lot,<\/p>\n
It meant they were remembering<\/p>\n
What they had forgot<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
In deference they waited<\/p>\n
And hoped to hear a sound<\/p>\n
But not even a whisper<\/p>\n
Came from the burial mound<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Death can seem quite final<\/p>\n
With someone whom you love<\/p>\n
Your heart keeps on yearning<\/p>\n
Even when she\u2019s gone above<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The birds were singing cheerfully<\/p>\n
It seemed so out of place<\/p>\n
Shouldn\u2019t the world be mourning<\/p>\n
Not just the human race?<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The flowers kept on blooming<\/p>\n
The sun refused to hide<\/p>\n
The cars just kept on moving<\/p>\n
And took it all in stride<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the family was quite silent<\/p>\n
Standing in the cold<\/p>\n
Hoping for renewal<\/p>\n
But feeling oh so old.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
But then the words came telling<\/p>\n
A very different tale<\/p>\n
That life\u2019s final victory<\/p>\n
Will one day prevail<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ashes to ashes<\/p>\n
And dust to dust they say<\/p>\n
In sure and certain hope<\/p>\n
Of resurrection\u2019s day<\/p>\n
