Indeed, there was a long line of such women in country music\u2013 Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, June Carter Cash, the Judds, and one could go on and on.\u00a0 We will say more later.\u00a0 \u00a0But there was another whole kind of roots music, namely the blues, and it was more associated with African American writers and guitar players, for example, B.B. King and his beloved guitar named Lucille\u2026.\u00a0 or Odetta and her guitar<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/07\/thumbnail_20230713_115947-scaled.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-58706\" classic \u2014 You Ain\u2019t Nothin but a Hound Dog\u2026..<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/08\/thumbnail_20230713_120155.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" singing civil rights songs to an integrated crowd in 1963\u2026. well before the March on Washington and the famous I have Dream Speech. by MLK where both Joan and Bob sang to a massive crowd on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/07\/thumbnail_20230713_114630.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58727\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/07\/thumbnail_20230713_114630.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/07\/thumbnail_20230713_114750.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" as well singing our hopes for a better future, a more racially harmonious place, a place of liberty and equality for all.\u00a0 And sometimes the music was sacred music, sharing the Good News of
