It originally had a baptistry, a sacristy and the usual structures you expect to find in a Catholic church. <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102746.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60911\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102746.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102527.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60917\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102527.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, there were not all these flags hanging in the Alamo in 1836, nor these memorials.\u00a0 \u00a0Here is a glimpse into the small sacristy\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103333-1.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60914\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103333-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"352\" height=\"640\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is as well a helpful schematic of the larger enclosure in which the Alamo was found.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_104527.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60980\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_104527.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103100-2.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60920\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103100-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is even an original canon used in the battle\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_101342.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60923\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_101342.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are helpful signposts that tell part of the story as well\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103113.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60926\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_103113.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102700.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60929\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_102700.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is even a recreation of the original mission bell over the adjacent but inevitable gift shop\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_104306.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60932\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2023\/12\/thumbnail_20231117_104306.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But in the end, it is a sad story of people killing each other for dubious reasons.\u00a0 Again, the Alamo was not part of the state of Texas when this battle transpired, and so I don\u2019t think we should be glorifying those who fought on either side.
