The new exhibit in the Museum of the Bible on Science and Scripture has been excellent, but not as well attended as one might have hoped. There are several emphases in this exhibit, for instance showing how most of the early pioneers in science were devout Christians (see the pictures above) and some of the modern ones like Francis Collins, the former head of the human genome project, and Dorothy Vaughan, the NASA scientist mathematician and devout Christian who worked on the Apollo moon landing and other Apollo projects, are highlighted.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is also some displays about famous Christians who were not scientists but nonetheless had things to say of relevance about the relationship of God\u2019s book of nature and holy Writ\u2014 for instance, Dante.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In general the presentations emphasize the compatibility of science that focuses on the what and how of creation and nature, and Scripture that explains God\u2019s design and plan for humankind, history, theology, ethics, spiritual formation.\u00a0 It does not take a confrontational approach to either science or Scripture.\u00a0 In our next post, we will show some of the ancient books on display by famous early Christians.<\/p>\n
