On the way home from Turkey, we stopped in Paris to see our gal Yuliya Tsutserova, whom we raised for about 18 years through all her American schooling, including her PhD at the University of Chicago.\u00a0 Now she teaches at the American University in Paris, and at the Sorbonne in the subjects of Philosophy and Art. We had not seen her for several years, partly because of the pandemic.\u00a0 And in the interim, she has had a son, Louis Alexandre. Here\u2019s a shot of them\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Besides family visiting, I had not been to Paris in over 30 years, so some site seeing was in order.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to start where we finished on our last day, our one trip out of town\u2014 to Giverny to see the country home and gardens of one of the most famous Impressionists\u2014 Claude Monet.\u00a0 Luckily, it was the nicest and coolest day of the stay, with a nice breeze, because the previous days had been blisteringly hot\u2014 well not quite Turkey\u2019s triple digits but hot and humid in the 90s.<\/p>\n

These 3 shots were taken at Giverny. Monet is credited with being the founder of Impressionism as a school of art.\u00a0 He lived a very long life\u2013 1840-1926, and during his time at Giverny he made some of his most famous paintings\u2013 including the ones of water lilies.\u00a0 Here is a picture of the house and gardens of Monet\u2014<\/p>\n

The house is huge, and the gardens even bigger.<\/p>\n

The inside of the house is a picture in time\u2013 of the late 19th early 20th century country house.<\/p>\n

Yes they had their own chickens, and still do.<\/p>\n
