Certainly one of my favorite paintings based the NT Apocrypha is Joseph and the boy Jesus in the carpenter\u2019s shop, working by candlelight.\u00a0 The painter is Latour\u2026.<\/p>\n

The problem with this painting is Joseph is too old, and Jesus is too feminine and too white as well.<\/p>\n

A little better is this busy painting of the raising of Lazarus.. another huge picture too big so again I did the close up\u2026<\/p>\n

This painting of Jesus appearing to the three Marys, is entitle the apparition of Jesus, and he is made to appear to be flying\u2026\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Alexander entering Babylon\u2026<\/p>\n

And here is the painting of Alexander crossing the Granicus river in Turkey, and having his life saved from behind by the soldier on the black horse\u2026\u00a0 This painting is also by Charles le Brun<\/p>\n

Here is King Solomon sacrificing to idols\u2026..<\/p>\n

You get occasional glances of what the Palace once looked like in some corners of the Louvre, for example this one\u2026<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve only been looking selectively on one floor of one wing of the three wings of the Louvre. Someone like me could go into the Louvre and not come out for weeks.\u00a0 And it is overwhelming.\u00a0 \u00a0Next, we will do one final post on what we saw on floor seven of that wing where the Impressionists were.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
