So we stop at the instant fresh orange juice machine, and Yuliya made us some juice.  We also stopped at the cameo shop as well. Well there were food stands of sorts, soup counters really built into the front of houses, for instance like this one\u2026<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup-e1383438805915-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6774\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notice the fresco at the end of the lunch counter\u2026 so, yes, they had fast food in those days.<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup2.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup2-e1383439019396-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6775\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s one more soup counter from Pompeii to compare to the first one\u2026<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup3.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/soup3-e1383439802106-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6777\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After lunch you might well go to the \u2018gymnasium\u2019\/baths not to work out but to sweat out\u2014 Here is one of the famous baths of Pompeii\u2014<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath1.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath1-e1383439361233-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6776\"><\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>By way of reminder, there were three rooms in a bath, with 3 temps of water\u2013hot, tepid, and cool, or as they called it cauldarium, tepidarium, and frigidarium.<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath2.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath2-e1383440148224-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6778\"><\/a><br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath3.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/55\/2013\/11\/bath3-e1383440456358-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6779\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But suppose you were just in port, and didn\u2019t know where to find the baths?
