I love sports as much as the next person, almost as much as I dislike the hype that comes with it.\u00a0 But the Super Bowl yesterday was frankly\u2014 NON-COMPETITIVE.\u00a0 Poor ole Patrick Mahomes didn\u2019t have even 3 seconds to get rid of the ball, so strong was the pass rush of the Eagles,\u00a0 and they didn\u2019t even blitz.\u00a0 \u00a0This led to uncharacteristic mistakes, and pretty soon, in fact before half time things were looking really dire for the repeat winners of the super bowl the last two years.\u00a0 Even Andy Reid and Travis Kelce combined couldn\u2019t rescue the Chiefs. If you thought at the beginning of the second half something better would happen for the Chiefs, you were dead wrong.\u00a0 The Eagles defense put on one of the most dominant performances ever in the Super Bowl, and even though the Chiefs bottled up Saquon Barclay for most of the game, Mr. Hurts ran all over the place, and made enough excellent throws to make this a massacre.\u00a0 By the fourth quarter, even Tom Brady couldn\u2019t make this game interesting.\u00a0 \u00a0So there will be no three peat, probably ever considering how many good teams there are in the NFL and how many injuries change the course of a team\u2019s chances.<\/p>\n
But as for the halftime show, it was the worst ever. Kendrick Lamar may be a talented rap and hip hop artist, but he spoke so fast, and mostly too softly to make any sense out of his message.\u00a0 There were no memorable tunes involved, unlike the Weekend\u2019s performance a few years back, or Drake\u2019s. I would guess most of the audience, after the first five minutes went to get refreshments with puzzled looks on their faces.\u00a0 And the sponsor of the performance, namely Apple Music, should have previewed and vetted the performance before letting that on the field for millions worldwide to puzzle over.\u00a0 At least Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam\u00a0 was colorful, but even he looked bemused.<\/p>\n
So congratulations to the Eagles for one of the most dominant Super Bowl performances ever.\u00a0 They earned it, and I hope the parade in Philly is more fun than the game.\u00a0 \u00a0The final score\u2014- Philly Cheese Steak 40,\u00a0 K.C. Brisket a mere 22.\u00a0 \u00a0Even the ads were mostly duds, with rare exceptions\u2026\u00a0 and to think we could have had a real musician with vocal talent bring us an uplifting message\u2026 like this\u2026<\/p>\n
