The other surprising thing is that the two largest houses in downtown Ostia were owned and run by wealthy women.<\/p>\n

Notice the indoor toilet in the house of Diana, and oh yes, the sliding glass doors on the front of the first floor shop in this building.<\/p>\n

They were not far from the piazza with its houses having the colorful mosaic floors.<\/p>\n

Nor were they far from a thermal bath (with men and women having different hours they were allowed to patronize the place), and it too had colorful mosaic floors under the water.<\/p>\n
