<\/a>Icons have been in the news this week. First there was the article by\u00a0Megan Hill about,\u00a0Why Jesus Doesn\u2019t Belong in Christmas De\u0107or<\/a>. This was well responded to by\u00a0Bishop Kenneth Myers<\/a>. Than there was\u00a0Aisha Harris<\/a>\u2018 article on race and Santa which inspired\u00a0Megyn Kelly to argue<\/a> that not only was Santa white but so was Jesus. *Face palm*<\/p>\nThis has reignited the question of Jesus\u2019 race and Icons have come up again, and I ran into this defense of Jesus\u2019 whiteness which I thought demonstrated a poor understanding of icons which should also be addressed:<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\nWith all this talk about icons and images I thought it would be a great idea to chat about the history, and theology of icons in the Catholic and Orthodox churches. With all this talk about icons and images I thought it would be a great idea to chat about the history, and theology of icons in the Catholic and Orthodox churches.
