A religious sister who celebrated her 107th birthday at daily Mass with Pope Francis Feb. 20 believes that the Holy Father is a gift to the Church.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf God wanted us to have Pope Francis, it\u2019s because it was already in his eternal mind,\u201d Sister Candida Bellotti said in statements to CNA. \u201cHe is the right person for our time, and we need to respect him because it is God\u2019s will.\u201d<\/p>\n

The religious sister, who is believed to be the oldest nun in the world, was too emotional to speak with the pontiff after Mass at St. Martha\u2019s Residence at the Vatican. However, she said that she was filled with joy and continued celebrating with her family, the Camillian Order, at its headquarters in Rome, where members had made a huge birthday cake for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrue happiness is appreciating the moment as God gives it to us,\u201d Sister Bellotti reflected. \u201cWhat we really need in life is to give thanks to God for what he gives us. Because that is the only thing that will make man happy. Man needs to accept each moment that comes and say \u2018thank you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to accept the good that we find,\u201d she added. \u201cSometimes we seek after good things and we don\u2019t find them, but that is the very secret, to seek what is good and avoid what is bad. We need to have the grace and the intelligence to know how to choose between good and evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
