I believe in the Bible. I find it is a beautiful book and when rightly divided it is a reliable rule for what I believe and how I behave. However there are a great deal of things I believe in which are not explicitly mentioned in the scriptures. Chief among these is the doctrine of the Trinity. Although the word trinity is never mentioned explicitly in the Bible the theological underpinnings that it imparts are core to any orthodox understanding of God. Most Christian denominations and theologians would agree with the statement \u201c[The Trinity] is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the \u2018hierarchy of the truths of faith.\u2019 (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 234)<\/em><\/p>\n

However, there has been a great deal of recent conversation about the whether or not the Trinity is an important theological framework in today\u2019s world. Prominent preachers like\u00a0T.D. Jakes<\/a>\u00a0have previously\u00a0<\/strong>embraced alternative theologies like \u201coneness Pentecostalism<\/a>.\u201d Some progressive Christians, have embraced forms of adoptionism. And even those Christians who\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0deny the\u00a0trinity, there are many who view it simply as a highfalutin concept with little to no practical application in their lives. Some might even argue that a true \u201cBible Believer\u201d\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0teach a doctrine like the Trinity, because of it is not mentioned in the Bible.<\/em><\/p>\n

In spite of this, I believe in a Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; one God in Triunity. I hope to defend the reasons I believe.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
