Do you remember when Francis called for a global day of fasting for peace? Well he\u2019s decided he\u2019s going to try to change the world through prayer again! On <\/span>December 10th,\u00a0<\/strong>human rights day, the Pope is sparking off what\u2019s being called, \u201ca global wave of prayer\u201d that will spread across the world starting noon in Australia and sweeping across the world. This will be the kick off of a global campaign in the Catholic Church not only to fight hunger but to end it completly. That\u2019s right, the Church is saying we are going to\u00a0<\/span>END HUNGER <\/em>and are aiming to do it by 2025.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0This is huge!<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been wondering how the pope is going to spend his political capital<\/a> and it looks like the first big project is throwing down the gauntlet against hunger. Here is the memo going out:<\/p>\n

Save the Date! December 10, 2013\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pope Francis and Catholic organizations around the world responding to the needs of the poor and vulnerable, including Catholic\u00a0Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA, call on you to join a global Catholic campaign to combat hunger as\u00a0One Human Family, Food for All<\/em>.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>On December 10<\/strong>, Pope Francis will launch the campaign, which will\u00a0encourage Catholics to participate in a global \u201cwave of prayer,\u201d joining our brothers and sisters in faith to pray at noon in each time zone around the world. Parishes, schools, agencies, institutions, and individuals are all invited to participate in the wave.<\/p>\n

Prayer resources and activities that will help raise awareness about hunger in our nation and across our globe will be shared before December 2, and will be available on the\u00a0Catholic Charities USA website<\/a>.\u00a0Please mark your calendars for December 10<\/strong>, as together we join Pope Francis and our Church around the world to fight hunger.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

I am thrilled about this. Not only will the world be praying but hundreds of Catholic relief organizations around the world are signing on for this push. Get ready to open your heart<\/strong> in prayer, your pocketbooks<\/strong> to give, and your mouth<\/strong> to urge policy makers to make this a priority. Here at The Orant<\/em> we are saying we\u2019re all in! <\/strong><\/p>\n

100 PERCENT of donations we\u00a0receive\u00a0during\u00a0the next year will go\u00a0directly\u00a0towards ending hunger.<\/strong><\/p>\n
