Recently Theologues<\/em> asked me to contribute a few titles to their summer reading list.<\/a> I thought I would include my selections here you you all. On top of these I have also been reading some Plato, Hume, and a few books by Michael\u00a0Chabon (just finished this<\/a>, and started this yesterday<\/a>). There\u2019s also my\u00a0comps list too\u2026. which I won\u2019t put down in it\u2019s entirety here, but I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll here about it soon. It\u2019s not really \u201csummer reading\u201d as much as it is a never ending sense of anxiety\u00a0looming over me. I\u2019d love to hear what you\u2019re reading this summer, and what you might recommend folks to read. Let me know in the comments.<\/p>\n

Here are my\u00a0Theologues<\/em> selections<\/h3>\n

Chasing Francis: A Pilgrim\u2019s Tale<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0Ian Morgan Cro<\/strong>n
\nThis book would be my \u201cbest beach read\u201d for theology nerds. It\u2019s a novel about a pastor who get\u2019s burned out and digs into encountering God through the spirituality of St. Francis.\u00a0I\u2019ve written a fuller review here<\/a>. It\u2019s a well written book and really spoke to me as a former minister who turned to Franciscan\u00a0spirituality in my own journey. I was deeply moved by this story.<\/p>\n

Laudato Si\u2019\u00a0<\/a>by Pope Francis<\/strong>
\nEveryone has been talking about this one, why not get into the conversation.\u00a0You can get it online for free<\/a>\u00a0(that\u2019s how the Vatican rolls).\u00a0I wrote down the 10 quotes from it which first struck me here<\/a>. I\u2019d love to heat what you think about it.<\/p>\n

On Liturgical Asceticism<\/a>\u00a0by David Fagerberg<\/strong>
\nThis is the one I\u2019m reading right now. I love\u00a0David Fagerberg\u2019s writings. He is a former Lutheran who came into the Catholic Church after studying Eastern Orthodox liturgical theology (just like me). This book along with his earlier\u00a0Theologia Prima\u00a0<\/a>are great reads to satiate the inner theology nerd.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
