Those who seek to exegete what the text means are faced with not only a diverse rage of historical opinions on the subject, but also with an almost unprecedented number of images, parallels, and symbols.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Many scholars have struggled with the ways in which this parable seems to fly in the face of many of the assumptions that have been made about Jesus, his teaching style, self understanding, and message.\u00a0<\/div>\n
