Can we please just retire this whole fake hate crimes thing? \u00a0Remember when a Mississippi church was burned down, with \u201cVote Trump\u201d written in graffiti on its walls?<\/p>\n

People went nuts. \u00a0This is the \u201cTrump Effect,\u201d they said. \u00a0This is what happens when you select\u00a0Donald Trump as the GOP nominee. \u00a0Then, when he was actually elected, people really went nuts, using the \u201chate crime\u201d reports from all over the nation to show that Republicans are racist.<\/p>\n

Well, well, well\u2026 \u00a0What do ya know<\/a>?<\/p>\n

A Mississippi man with a prior criminal record was arrested Wednesday in the burning of an African-American church that was spray-painted with the words \u201cVote Trump,\u201d and the church\u2019s bishop said the man is a member of the congregation.<\/p>\n

The state fire marshal said investigators do not believe the fire was politically motivated, but there a signs it may have been done to appear that way.<\/p>\n

Andrew McClinton, 45, of Leland, Mississippi, is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Thursday in Greenville \u2014 the city where Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church was burned and vandalized Nov. 1, a week before the presidential election.<\/p>\n

McClinton is charged with first degree arson of a place of worship, said Warren Strain, spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n

Hopewell Bishop Clarence Green said McClinton, who is African-American, is a member of the church.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
