Actor James Franco and Eliot Michaelson joined Liz Harman of Princeton University to talk about the ethics of having an early-stage abortion. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Her view on the subject is\u00a0actually incomprehensible. \u00a0Basically at one point she said that babies that are killed in the womb do not have moral worth since they didn\u2019t actually become humans. \u00a0Got that? \u00a0Then, she contradicts that by saying the opposite. \u00a0I don\u2019t know. \u00a0Here is a quote that is absolutely astonishing:<\/p>\n

My view isn\u2019t that \u2018if you do abort, abortion is okay, but if you don\u2019t abort, abortion would\u2019ve been wrong.\u2019 But what it turns out, is that it\u2019s a contingent matter that you have moral status. \u00a0You actually have moral status, but you would not have counted morally at all if you had been aborted. \u00a0You would have existed, but you would\u2019ve have this really short existence in which you would not have have mattered morally.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Got that?<\/p>\n

I love the look on\u00a0James and Eliot\u2019s faces right after she says this:<\/p>\n

It would be fun to have a caption contest for their faces, but here\u2019s my best guess on what they\u2019re thinking:<\/p>\n

Seriously, they let you teach at Princeton? \u00a0Is the the best liberals has to offer? \u00a0Does this program not vet our guests at all?<\/em><\/p>\n

Think about how depressing that is. \u00a0Her message is literally, your mother could\u2019ve killed you and it wouldn\u2019t have mattered.<\/p>\n

She goes on, saying that moral status is given by the future. \u00a0So, I\u2019m sure this lady doesn\u2019t believe in God, but she believes that the all-powerful \u201cFuture\u201d that endows \u201cmoral status\u201d on human beings.<\/p>\n

Luke Duggan<\/a>\u00a0in the comments section made a very good point \u2014 yet one that should\u2019ve been obvious by anyone on this planet\u2026 \u00a0especially an Ivy League professor. \u00a0He wrote, \u201cI find it quite implausible that someone\u2019s moral status depends on whether other people want them to exist. A plausible ethic of abortion should say that the unborn child either has moral status absolutely or lacks it absolutely \u2013 not that it fluctuates according to the mother\u2019s whims.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Um\u2026 \u00a0For all you parents who are so excited that your kids got into Princeton this fall, realize that cold hard cash you\u2019re spending to send them there is paying this lady\u2019s salary. Plus, for probably $250,000, your kid might turn out as morally flawed and logically confused!<\/div>\n
