California resident Thomas Gunderson was\u00a0at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night when the violence broke out.\u00a0As you sadly have heard, sixty-four year old Stephen Paddock sprayed 20,000 concertgoers with bullets, causing one of the worst mass shootings in American history.<\/p>\n

When Gunderson tried to run away,, a bullet pierced his leg.<\/p>\n

It sounds weird to say, but he was one of the blessed ones \u2014 considering that over fifty people were killed that horrific night.\u00a0 The Daily Mail<\/em> has the inspirational story of what happened when President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania showed up at the hospital to visit Gunderson and\u00a0other survivors.<\/p>\n

A family member caught the whole thing on video.\u00a0 First, you see Gunderson\u00a0struggling to even\u00a0sit up in the bed.\u00a0 Then, he did this:<\/p>\n

\u2018Hi Thomas. How are you?\u2019 Melania Trump asks as she tells him not to get up.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m okay,\u2019 Gunderson is heard saying as he gets to his feet and the pair shake hands.<\/p>\n
They then prepared for the president to walk through the hospital room door as the video showed Trump greeting doctors, nurses and staff.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
I love President Trump.\u00a0 When he walked into the room, he took one look at Gunderson and said, \u201cHey, this guy looks tough to me.\u201d\u00a0 Then, he shook his hand and asked \u201cHow\u2019s it going?\u201d\u00a0 Here\u2019s more from the Daily Mail<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u2018I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand!<\/p>\n
\u2018There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!\u2019 Gunderson wrote.<\/p>\n
On Gunderson\u2019s patient board in his hospital room, he also had the hashtag \u2018#MAGA\u2019 written under the statement: \u2018What\u2019s important to me.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
That\u2019s the essence of being an American right there.\u00a0 In moments of national tragedy, it\u2019s so nice to see that spirit of honor and respect \u2014 even in the toughest of times.<\/p>\n
