Did you know that two official sponsors of the NFL supported the whole \u201cbend the knee\u201d athletes?\u00a0 According to the Hollywood Reporter<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Nike, an official sponsor of the NFL, and Under Armour, which has endorsement contracts with players including Cam Newton and Tom Brady, both issued statements regarding the\u00a0decision of dozens of football players<\/a>\u00a0to take a knee during the national anthem at their games over the weekend. The players are protesting violence against young African-Americans in the U.S., specifically at the hands of police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The companies tweeted their support of the athletes.\u00a0\u201c@<\/span>UnderArmour<\/span><\/a>\u00a0stands for the flag and by our Athletes for free speech, expression and a unified America,\u201d wrote Under Armour.\u00a0 Nike wrote, \u201cNike supports athletes and their right to freedom of expression on issues that are of great importance to our society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, guess what? The customer apparently didn\u2019t like this.\u00a0 Instapundit<\/a><\/em> reports that Under Armour\u2019s stock \u201cis falling as\u00a0sales tank<\/a>\u201c:<\/p>\n

Under Armour Inc.<\/a>\u00a0posted its first sales decline as a public company, renewing concerns about a brand that was long seen as the sportswear industry\u2019s biggest growth story.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Also\u00a0Nike\u00a0has\u00a0experienced lackluster growth in the United States as well:<\/p>\n

Nike Inc., the world\u2019s largest sports brand, has also experienced lackluster growth in the U.S. It has chalked up its woes to the struggles of longstanding U.S. retailers and not getting products to market fast enough.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Or, maybe, the companies\u2019 tone deaf endorsement of the NFL athletes taking a knee didn\u2019t sit well with the heartland?<\/p>\n

I love it that Americans are voting with their pocketbooks.<\/p>\n
