Isn\u2019t this crazy!!<\/span><\/p>\n

Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning\u00a0journalist David Horsey centered his\u00a0latest column,\u00a0\u201cSarah Huckabee Sanders is the right mouthpiece for a truth-twisting president,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0on the press secretary\u2019s status as a \u201cpro\u201d at delivering the Trump administration\u2019s message to the press corps and extended media\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Horsey\u00a0wrote these two paragraphs that have since been deleted from the piece:<\/p>\n

Sarah Huckabee Sanders does not look like the kind of woman Donald Trumpwould choose as his chief spokesperson. Much like Roger Ailes when he was stocking the Fox News lineup with blond Barbie dolls in short, tight skirts, the president has generally exhibited a preference for sleek beauties with long legs and stiletto heels to represent his interests and act as his arm candy.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s daughter Ivanka and wife Melania are the apotheosis of this type. By comparison, Sanders looks more like a slightly chunky soccer mom who organizes snacks for the kids\u2019 games. Rather than the fake eyelashes and formal dresses she puts on for news briefings, Sanders seems as if she\u2019d be more comfortable in sweats and running shoes. Yet, even if Trump privately wishes he had a supermodel for a press secretary, he is lucky to have Sanders.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sanders is the White House press secretary\u00a0\u2014 only\u00a0the third\u00a0female ever\u00a0hold this title!\u00a0\u00a0Okay, so here we have a male writer who believes it\u2019s his mission in life to describe the physical attributes of some of the highest-level women in America?<\/p>\n

Where are the feminists on this one?<\/span><\/p>\n

DawnC in the comments under the Yahoo<\/em> article wrote, \u201cThere are plenty of hefty, unattractive, aging men in business, politics, and the news. Articles are about what they say and do, not what they look like.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exactly.\u00a0 This double standard must stop.<\/p>\n

Horsey apologized and deleted those two paragraphs:<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to apologize to Times readers \u2014 and to Sarah Huckabee Sanders \u2014 for a description that was insensitive and failed to meet the standards of our newspaper. It also failed to meet the expectations I have for myself. It surely won\u2019t be my last mistake, but this particular error will be scrupulously avoided in my future commentaries. I\u2019ve removed the offending description.<\/p>\n
