Yes!\u00a0 We need more\u00a0kindness \u2014 even on social media.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Washington Post\u2019s\u00a0Allison Klein<\/a>\u00a0writes about an amazing, soul-encouraging exchange on Twitter. (Yes, you read that correctly!)<\/p>\n A few days after Christmas, Sarah Silverman \u2014 a frequently off-color, liberal comedienne \u2014 was attacked on Twitter by a male user who called her a nasty, sexist word.\u00a0 (Hint: it\u2019s usually used to crassly describe a part of the female anatomy.)\u00a0 You can be forgiven if you would\u2019ve expected Silverman to obliterate this guy.\u00a0 Instead, she responded with kindness and compassion.<\/p>\n In response to this one-word tweet, Silverman responded, \u201cI believe in you. I read ur timeline & I see what ur doing & your rage is thinly veiled pain. But u know that. I know this feeling. Ps My back \u2026 sux too. see what happens when u choose love. I see it in you.\u201d<\/p>\n The Twitter user \u2014 @jeremy_jamrozy \u2013 who lives in San Antonio opened up to the woman he had just insulted.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI can\u2019t choose love. A man that resembles Kevin spacey took that away when I was 8. I can\u2019t find peace if I could find that guy who ripped my body who stripped my innocence I\u2019d kill him. He \u2026 me up and I\u2019m poor so its hard to get help,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cGood. I want to kill him too so I can\u2019t imagine your rage. All I know is this rage \u2014 and even if you could kill him\u2014 it\u2019s punishing yourself,\u201d the celebrity comedienne responded.\u00a0 \u201cAnd you don\u2019t deserve punishment. You deserve support. Go to one of these support groups. You might meet ur best bros there.\u201d<\/p>\n This kindness caused him to apologize to her for being so rude, and he said he\u2019d try to find help.<\/p>\n \u201cDood I don\u2019t care. I\u2019m fine. I see something in you,\u201d she said.\u00a0 \u201cMy gut tells me you could have a great life. My shrink says we don\u2019t get what we want, we get what we think we deserve. I\u2019m telling you, you deserve so much more than you know.\u201d<\/p>\n Jeremy was touched, but incredulous.\u00a0 \u201cLol how?? And wut do u see?? Im jus confused how u can see that I can do better. I have multiple problems a big hole to crawl out of.
