A public university in President Abraham Lincoln\u2019s home state of Illinois is adorned with a plaque that states Lincoln \u2013 arguably the most famous and influential president in American history \u2013 was a Democrat.<\/p>\n

Lincoln was a Republican.<\/p>\n

The plaque, located\u00a0on a\u00a0historic building that\u2019s part of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and installed in 1905, states: \u201cThis building is dedicated to public service honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln\u00a0\u00a0 Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n

When a picture of the memorial recently surfaced on social media sites, it quickly went viral, and prompted anger among many Republicans, who called the dedication not only inaccurate but also a prime example of revisionist history.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Next, they\u2019ll be saying Obama is a Republican.<\/p>\n
