As I lay here surfing the web and checking Facebook, I came across this fantastic piece about complaining<\/a>. \u00a0Our new pontiff has some great thoughts for the whiners of the world. \u00a0If you whine (so basically if you are a woman!), go read this article. \u00a0Not only does complaining make you a joy stealer, complaining draws us into ourselves, and makes it more difficult to see Christ walking beside us in our suffering. \u00a0The piece is short and worth the 2 minute read.<\/p>\n

And so, in the spirit of not being a whiner, I\u2019m going to list some things I am thankful for in the midst of this illness\u2013<\/p>\n

1) \u00a0Tylenol and Ibuprofen. \u00a0Without these two lovely over -the-counter medications, I think I\u2019d have to take up drooling over swallowing, which is rather gross.<\/p>\n

2) \u00a0The weight loss and possible detoxing effect of night sweating and fevers.<\/p>\n

3) \u00a0A husband who bought me flowers and did the food shopping at 10 last night.<\/p>\n

4) \u00a0The best childcare\/nanny in the world\u2013Rachel. \u00a0Rachel stayed late last night and allowed me to be in bed for most of the day. \u00a0When I came downstairs, the house was sparkling. \u00a0She even mopped my floor.<\/p>\n

5) \u00a0My house is really, really quiet. \u00a0The kids seem to think quiet is necessary so they can \u201chear\u201d me if I try to speak. \u00a0Since today I am unable to speak at all, they are now responding to hand gestures, nods, and smiles. \u00a0I\u2019m already thinking of ways to incorporate this into our daily lives post illness.<\/p>\n

7) \u00a0When they forget I can\u2019t talk and ask me \u201cwhy?\u201d I simply shrug. \u00a0The older ones are learning to phrase everything in yes\/no questions. \u00a0They are practicing their reasoning skills AND since I am a homeschooler, I can count this as Math for today.<\/p>\n

8) \u00a0I cancelled formal homeschooling for the past two days and we are watching movies about the Bible. \u00a0The kids are also making me get well cards and drawing me pictures. \u00a0I feel very loved, and I think this counts as Religion, Handwriting, History, and Art.<\/p>\n

9) \u00a0My mom, despite being in pain herself, stopped by to make lunch for the kids. \u00a0She only stayed for an hour, but it was a huge help.<\/p>\n

10) \u00a0I am still able to blog because I just got a new MacBook Air laptop! \u00a0I have a laptop!!!!<\/p>\n
