Lately on social media, it\u2019s hard to scroll very far without seeing a post detailing the latest outrageous thing president Donald J. Trump has said to tick people off. The core of the controversial Trump messages can be summed up as follows.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a great wonderful president and anybody who says anything against my presidency sucks and I will whine about it on Truth Social\u201d.<\/p>\n

I think it\u2019s a possibility that each day he doesn\u2019t hear his name being branded about in the news cycle he gets withdrawals from his addiction to being in the spotlight at every moment of the day and decides to say something to keep people talking.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I just insult the pope, people will talk about. If just post a pic of me of Jesus and say I didn\u2019t know what I was doing people will talk about. Billy Grham Jr. will defend anything I do. If people trash me, I\u2019ll just complain about it and keep it going.\u201d<\/p>\n

People love to defend or complain about Donald Trump as much as possible. They are worth addressing and talking about and can\u2019t be ignored as he is the leader of our country. But there are plenty of other things happening around and above the world besides Trumps insane ramblings. I thought I would scan the net and find some of those stories.<\/p>\n

Down in Antarctica<\/h2>\n

News that happens at the bottom of the world include a sad report on our beloved fine-feathered friends.<\/p>\n

In 1902, British explorer Robert Falcon Scott spotted a large group of large black and white birds at Ross Island, Antarctica. This was among the many milestones of Scott\u2019s famous\u00a0Discovery expedition<\/a>: the first breeding colony of emperor penguins.<\/p>\n

Now, only 124 years since this penguin colony was discovered, emperor penguins have officially been\u00a0listed as endangered<\/a>, along with the Antarctic fur seal. As the world warms, Antarctic krill are shifting southwards and sea ice is shrinking at record levels. And these unprecedented changes are having a domino effect on these species.- The beloved emperor penguin and Antarctic fur seal are now officially endangered. Th 2005 French nature documentary film\u00a0March of the Penguins<\/a> directed and written by Luc Jacquet and narrated by Morgan Freeman<\/a> brings these beloved birds world to life. To thing that one day these birds could go the way the dodo bird seems unreal.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Above the World<\/h2>\n

A spaceship of astronauts circled the moon recently and arrived back on earth safe and sound.<\/p>\n

Artemis II<\/b>\u00a0was a crewed lunar\u00a0flyby<\/a>\u00a0mission on April 1\u201311, 2026. It was the first crewed flight of the\u00a0NASA<\/a>-led\u00a0Artemis program<\/a>\u00a0and the first crewed flight beyond\u00a0low Earth orbit<\/a>\u00a0since\u00a0Apollo 17<\/a>\u00a0in 1972. Artemis II was the second flight of the\u00a0Space Launch System<\/a>\u00a0(SLS) and the first crewed flight of the\u00a0Orion spacecraft<\/a>, named\u00a0Integrity<\/i>\u00a0by the four-person crew.<\/p>\n

Among the four crew members,\u00a0Victor Glover<\/a>\u00a0is the first\u00a0person of color<\/a>,\u00a0Christina Koch<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0first woman<\/a>,\u00a0Canadian Space Agency<\/a>\u00a0astronaut\u00a0Jeremy Hansen<\/a>\u00a0the first non-U.S. citizen, and commander\u00a0Reid Wiseman<\/a> the oldest person to travel beyond low Earth orbit and around the Moon.<\/p>\n

After launch, Artemis II gained widespread global attention for its achievements and inclusive crew, giving rise to the term\u00a0Moon joy<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n

Then crew them completed a nine-day trip around the moon, during which they broke the record for the\u00a0farthest that any humans have ever traveled from Earth.<\/a> (They traveled 252,756 miles, surpassing the previous record of 248,655 miles set by the crew of Apollo 13).
