In this prayer, St. Ildephonsus of Spain recognizes the essential role of the Holy Spirit, both in Mary\u2019s life and in ours.<\/em><\/p>\n

Virgin Mary, hear my prayer!
\nThrough the Holy Spirit,
\nyou became the mother of Jesus.
\nFrom the Holy Spirit,
\nlet Jesus become mine as well.
\nThrough the Holy Spirit,
\nyour flesh conceived Jesus.
\nThrough the same Spirit,
\nlet my soul receive Jesus.
\nThrough the Holy Spirit,
\nyou were able to know Jesus, to have him, and to bring him into the world.
\nThrough the Holy Spirit,
\nLet me come to know Jesus as well. Filled with the Spirit, Mary,
\nyou could say, \u201cI am the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to your word.\u201d
\nIn the Holy Spirit, despite my lowliness,
\nlet me speak exalted things about Jesus.
\nIn the Spirit you now adore Jesus as Lord and contemplate him as your Son.
\nIn the same Spirit, Mary, let me love Jesus.<\/p>\n

Have I considered the essential role he plays in my life and the life of the Church? Have I asked him to fill me as he filled Mary?<\/p>\n

\nWith Mary, I pray: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.<\/p>\n
