<\/a>Caritas Press has recently released a six book series of rosary meditations for the entire family. There is a book for fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, teenagers and altar servers. For this review a member of our family took one of the books to write about.<\/p>\nA Father\u2019s <\/b>Heart: Rosary Meditations for Dads<\/b> reviewed by Pete<\/b><\/p>\n
Father Doug Lorigpresents fathers with a series of meditations that takes the mysteries of the rosary and effectively ties them to the everyday challenges of fatherhood. Before going further you should know that Father is a convert to Catholicism, a former Episcopalian priest, father of four and grandfather of fifteen. He has had personal experience as a father and it serves him well in this book. Each of the meditations opens with Scripture relative to the mystery. Father than provides a specific mediation that takes a topic that relates to the mystery and to modern challenges of fatherhood today. Each meditation closes out with a prayer. Fathers if you are looking for a great meditation book relative to our vocation as fathers this book should be on your radar.<\/p>\n
A <\/b>Mother\u2019s Bouquet: Rosary Meditations <\/b>for Moms reviewed by Laura<\/b><\/p>\n
This little rosary meditations book is written just for mothers by a mother who knows all the trials and weaknesses of motherhood.\u00a0\u00a0 Using the mysteries of the rosary, the author, Sherry Boas, helps mothers to grow closer to God through their vocation.\u00a0 Mother\u2019s faults and trials are not sugar-coded as shown from the first mystery \u201cThe Annunciation\u201d:\u00a0 \u201cIf I allow strife and stress to destroy my peace, it is because I am not abandoned to your will, not willing to sacrifice and suffer, not willing to let go of my selfish designs for my day or my hour or my moment.\u00a0 If the privilege of serving these precious ones becomes drudgery, it is because I fail to surrender my every moment to you.\u201d [8]\u00a0\u00a0 Not only is it a book overflowing with humbling reflections, but also a prayer book for women striving to care for their children and bring them up in the love of God.\u00a0 With this book Sherry Boas brings mothers back spiritually to where they need to be and remain: honored to be a mother.<\/p>\n
A Children\u2019s Treasure: Rosary Meditations for Children reviewed by Pete<\/b><\/p>\n
Let\u2019s open this review with \u201cwritten by kids and for kids\u201d because that is what this mediation book is all about. Derek Rebello, Elsa Schiavone and Michael Boas write the meditations in this book and Maria Boas provides the illustrations. All four are homeschooled children with an evident love of Jesus and the rosary. The meditations in this volume are shorter than the ones in the others we have offered for review here. They come in at about a page each which is perfect for kids. There are written for kids who are good readers on their own but written simply enough that some younger kids can still get something out of the meditations when read to.<\/p>\n
Amazing Love: Rosary <\/b>Meditations for Teens reviewed by Katie<\/b><\/p>\n
This book is an enjoyable read that talks of the necessity of a strong prayer life and pushes the reader to remain to true and loyal to Our Savior Jesus. The meditations on each decade of the rosary focus on a sin or action that reflects that mystery. For example, the meditation on the Scouring at the Pillar talks about how Jesus\u2019 scourging was primarily against the sin of impurity and discusses the challenges that many teens face against this sin. Teen authors Mari Seaberg, Adrian Inclan, and Maria Boas have truly created a book that will inspire and encourage their readers to pursue a powerful prayer life and be prepared to join their Savior and God someday in Heaven.<\/p>\n
There are also two other volumes available in the series but we did not have family members available to review them. In brief one volume is geared towards grandparents (Generations of Love) and the other is written for altar servers (A Servant\u2019s Heart). All six books are handy volumes that will certainly spark much valuable mediation on mysteries of the rosary. The variety allows the reader to be able to utilize the volume that best suits their vocation in life. Each are well crafted towards their target audience. Each are a valuable faith building meditation resource.<\/p>\n
