T<\/em>he truth <\/em>is the way, says St. Augustine. The only way to Christ is through\u00a0<\/em>Christ. We eat the bread of angels because \u201cthe Word became flesh and d<\/em>welt\u00a0<\/em>among <\/em>us<\/em>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

If you are looking for truth, stick to the Way\u2014for the truth is <\/em>the Way. The truth is the destination to which you are going, and it is the Way by which you go. You are not going by one thing as your way to something else as your destina- tion; you are not coming to Christ by something that is other than Christ. You are coming to Christ through <\/em>Christ.<\/p>\n

What does that mean, to Christ through Christ?<\/p>\n

Through Christ the Man to Christ the God. Through the Word made flesh, to the Word that in the beginning was with God, and was God ( John 1:1). From what human beings used to eat to the bread that angels eat every day. For this is what is written: he \u201cgave them the grain of Heaven. Man ate of the bread of the angels\u201d (Ps. 78:24-25).<\/p>\n

In what sense did man eat of the bread of the angels? \u201cAnd the Word became flesh and dwelt among us\u201d ( John 1:13). \u00a0\u2013\u00a0St. Augustine, Homily 13 on the Gospel of John<\/em>, 4<\/p>\n

Do I always move from ordinary bread toward the bread of angels Do I start fromfaith as my point of departure?<\/p>\n

CLOSING PRAYER<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lord Jesus Christ, <\/em>f<\/em>eed me with the bread of angels, so that <\/em>I may send up praise to you now and forever.<\/em><\/p>\n
