\"angels_ambrose_1\"<\/a>T<\/em>he angels, says St. Ambrose, were <\/em>a<\/em>ma<\/em>z<\/em>ed<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>b<\/em>y the Resurrection. Even the <\/em>h<\/em>os<\/em>ts\u00a0<\/em>of \u00a0Heaven could not understand the wonderful mystery \u00a0of \u00a0our salvation until\u00a0<\/em>Christ himself \u00a0revealed <\/em>it.<\/em><\/p>\n

Why should we be surprised if by their worldly wisdom men failed to comprehend the mystery of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden (Col. 2:3); that mystery which not even angels have been able to know except by revelation?<\/p>\n

For who could by pure imagination, and not by faith, follow the Lord Jesus, first descending from the highest heaven to the shades below, and then rising again from Hades to the heavenly places; in a moment self-emptied, so that he might dwell among us, and yet never made less than he was, the Son being ever in the Father and the Father in the Son?<\/p>\n

Angels, too, stood spellbound in wonder at the heavenly mystery. The Lord rose again, and the heights of Heaven could not bear the glory of his rising from the dead. Just now, as far as his flesh was concerned, he had been confined in the narrow limits of a tomb. Even the heavenly hosts doubted and were amazed. For a Conqueror came, adorned with wondrous spoils. The Lord was in his holy Temple. Before Him went angels and archangels, marveling at the prey wrested from death. \u2013St. Ambrose, Exposition of the Christian Faith<\/em>, 4.1<\/p>\n

IN GOD\u2019S PRESENCE, CONSIDER . . .<\/strong><\/p>\n

To know the mysteries of Christ, even angels have need of Revelation. Do I take every opportunity to hear the revealed Word of God\u2014by paying attention to the readings and the homily at Mass and by reading often in Scripture?<\/p>\n

Guardian Angel, keep the love of God\u2019s word and my need of <\/em>God\u2019s <\/em>Revelation <\/em>a<\/em>l<\/em>wa<\/em>ys <\/em>before my <\/em>e<\/em>y<\/em>es<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n
