\"angels_cyril_of_jerusalem_1\"<\/a>W<\/em>hen Christ sends the angels to gather his chosen people, says St. Cyril of\u00a0<\/em>J<\/em>erusalem, it <\/em>won<\/em>\u2019<\/em>t<\/em> matter at all whether you\u2019re rich or poor. On earth, <\/em>Ch<\/em>r<\/em>ist <\/em>was poor himself, so he <\/em>won<\/em>\u2019<\/em>t<\/em> f<\/em>orget the poor among <\/em>his elect.<\/em><\/p>\n

That King, so great and glorious, attended by trains of \u00a0angels, who shares the Father\u2019s throne, will not despise his own servants.<\/p>\n

His elect will not be confused with his foes: \u201cand he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds\u201d (Matt.<\/p>\n

24:31). He despised no one, not even Lot; so how could he despise many righ- teous? \u201cCome, you blessed of my Father,\u201d he will say to them, and then they will ride on chariots of clouds, and be collected by angels.<\/p>\n

But someone here may be saying, \u201cI am a poor man,\u201d or \u201cWhat if when that happens I\u2019m sick and in bed?\u201d or \u201cI am only a woman, and I shall be taken at the mill: shall we then be despised?\u201d<\/p>\n

Be of good courage. The Judge is no respecter of persons; \u201cHe shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his ears hear\u201d (Isa. 11:3). He does not honor the educated before the simple, or the rich before the needy. Even if you are in the field, the angels will take you; do not think that he will take the landlord and leave you, the farmer. Even if you\u2019re a slave, even if you\u2019re poor, don\u2019t worry at all: he who took the form of a servant does not despise servants. \u2013St. Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lecture 15<\/em>, 22-23<\/p>\n
