Buenos Aires, Argentina, Oct 2, 2012 \/ 02:05 pm (CNA<\/a>).- Pro-life leaders in Argentina are encouraging the governor of Buenos Aires, Mauricio Macri, to veto a law legalizing abortion in the province which was passed on Sept. 28.<\/p>\n

\tIn an Oct. 1 statement, Ines Franck of the local Committee on Bioethics urged Macri to exercise his \u201cconstitutional prerogative, this time in defense of the lives of the unborn.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

\tMacri has said he would oppose the law because it allows minors under the age of 14 who were raped to obtain an abortion without parental consent and at any time throughout the pregnancy.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cNot only would he thus be fulfilling an unavoidable duty of justice,\u201d Franck said, \u201cbut also he would be respecting the ethical and moral convictions of the majority who those who voted for him in the capital city.<\/p>\n

\tThe Buenos Aires law was passed last Friday by a vote of 30-29.<\/p>\n
