Atlanta, Ga., Jun 8, 2012 \/ 04:16 am (CNA<\/a>).- The Atlanta-area St. Catherine of Siena Church is producing a movie called \u201cFive Blocks Away\u201d to tell the story of a young man focused on his career and his social life when new experiences force him to search for \u201cwhat really matters in life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tKevis Antonio, the movie\u2019s writer, described \u201cFive Blocks Away\u201d in an introduction on YouTube. He predicted that it will have \u201can incredible power to positively impact an immeasurable number of people in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tExecutive producer Richard Martin said the movie is about a young man who is more concerned about worldly status. The man recognizes that he is \u201cmaking mistakes\u201d and is \u201cliving in that worldly life of greed and power and wanting more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\u201cBut he eventually learns through compassion, through understanding of another, of a woman he falls in love with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tMartin said the moviemakers want \u201cFive Blocks Away\u201d to be \u201csomething that Christians around the world will rally around and say \u2018that is a message that I want my son or daughter to see.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\tIt is intended for a young adult audience.<\/p>\n

\tAntonio said he started to think about making a movie after years of hearing others ask why the Catholic Church doesn\u2019t make any movies and why Hollywood doesn\u2019t make movies for Catholics.<\/p>\n

\tHe said the movie is \u201cunprecedented\u201d because it is the first to be produced by a Catholic church.<\/p>\n

\tFr. John Matejek, the pastor of St. Catherine of Siena in Kennesaw, Ga., said the parish decided to produce the film to \u201cinspire\u201d people to love Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWe\u2019re all excited about this,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are so excited, we can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tAntonio\u2019s previous work includes the documentary \u201cBread of Life,\u201d a selection of the John Paul II International Film Festival that was aired on EWTN Global Catholic Television Network. Martin was a producer for \u201cBread of Life\u201d and is a career educator.<\/p>\n

\tThe filmmakers are soliciting small donors over the internet with the goal of raising $550,000. They are also asking supporters to tell others about the movie, especially through social media.<\/p>\n

\tThe filmmakers hope to release the movie in 2013.<\/p>\n
