Atlanta, Ga., Mar 28, 2014 \/ 04:09 am (CNA\/EWTN News<\/a>).- The website GoodConfession.com aims to encourage Catholics to go to Confession more often, and to return to the \u201clife-changing\u201d sacrament if they have been away for some time.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWe, as practicing Catholics, need to help our brothers and sisters back to the sacramental graces that come through Confession,\u201d Tom Peterson, president of Catholics Come Home, told CNA March 26.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWhen we do, the results are miraculous. We\u2019ve seen lives change. It\u2019s like a weight lifted off your soul, but also off your back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe website<\/a> offers an explanation of the sacrament, guides people through the process of confession, and discusses \u201cstruggles with sin,\u201d providing an examination of conscience and confession times.<\/p>\n

\tThe website says that frequent confession advances one\u2019s self-understanding, helps overcome vice, brings peace, and helps penitents become more saintly and \u201cmore like Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe website includes testimonies from people \u201cwho took advantage of the sacrament and felt God\u2019s healing grace and forgiveness and are free,\u201d said Peterson, whose organization launched the website.<\/p>\n

\tPeterson said that Confession might be \u201cthe most underutilized sacrament we have in the Church.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tStudies indicate that even many self-described practicing Catholics have not been to Confession in five years, he said.<\/p>\n

\tThompson cited Benedict XVI\u2019s statement that the new evangelization begins in the confessional.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cI really want to encourage anyone of our readers who hasn\u2019t been to the sacrament of Confession in a while, I\u2019d say in more than two weeks, to take advantage of it again,\u201d said Thompson.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cIt\u2019s life-changing. It\u2019s eternity-changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tHe said that people who go to Confession \u201cwith a contrite spirit and a pure heart\u201d encounter a God who \u201cwants to wrap his arms around us and love us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe website displays several videos on confession: \u201cSin separates us from God. But when we humbly repent in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God\u2019s mercy forgives, and his grace sets us free,\u201d says the video \u201cHeavy Burdens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\u201cSo experience a fresh start today. Come home, to discover the healing and peace that only comes from God.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tCatholics Come Home hopes to broadcast the ad on television during Lent next year.<\/p>\n
