So, Christmas is coming and I know there\u2019s been a bit of a lull the past few months in blogging as I\u2019ve finished my first semester of grad school. It\u2019s been a busy, challenging few months, but as of about 24 hours ago, I\u2019m done with class. Starting Friday, I\u2019ll be off work for two days. In addition to enjoying the holidays with my family, I\u2019m also looking forward to catching up on some movies and tending to this neglected site.<\/p>\n

In the coming days and weeks, I\u2019m going to start winding down 2016. Before this week is up, I\u2019ll have my thoughts on my favorite non-movie pop culture of the year. I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll do one last holiday-related post as well. And then, around the end of the year\/beginning of 2017, I\u2019ll have my list of my top 20 films of 2016. I still have a bunch to catch up on, so I\u2019m not sure if I\u2019ll just bite the bullet and do a list before I\u2019ve seen the ones I still need to and just write about those films later, or if I\u2019ll hold off. Depends on time, I guess. But there\u2019s a lot of movie-related writing coming.<\/p>\n

One of the constants through the year, however, has been the monthly(ish) podcast I do with my friends Matt December and Beth Golpe. \u201cIt\u2019s My Favorite\u201d started as a lark nearly two years ago, a way for us to get together once a month and talk about pop culture. It\u2019s become the highlight of my month, though. We might not get a ton of downloads, but I have a ball sitting with Matt and Beth and just letting the conversation flow for a bit. Yes, it\u2019s great fun to talk movies and television. But in recent months, we\u2019ve started to riff on politics, family traditions and more, and the result has been some of my favorite episodes.
