Writer\/producer Brian Bird<\/a> (Touched By an Angel<\/em>, Step by Step<\/em>, When Calls the Heart<\/em>) shared the video below on his Twitter feed, saying \u201cAbsolutely love this from students of John Paul the Great University<\/a> \u2014 Letter to Artists.\u201d<\/p>\n As stated on the school\u2019s Youtube page<\/a>, \u201cOn Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999, Pope John Paul II wrote an open letter to all artists \u2014 both Christian and secular \u2014 reminding them of their vocation to Beauty. He urged them not to waste their artistic talent but to develop it, and to put it at the service of humanity as an authentic vehicle of culture.\u201d<\/p>\n The video \u2013 made up of students who are studying film, gaming and acting \u2013 is a three-minute summary of that 6,000 word letter<\/a>. Not every line is a direct quote, but the students highlight the heart of the soon-to-be saint\u2019s<\/a> message: \u201cSociety needs you artists. The world in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair. Beauty, like truth, brings joy to the human heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
